The Breakthrough Aerospace Technology Award recognises pioneering technologies that represent a step-change in aerospace capability, performance, or sustainability. This award honours innovations that move beyond incremental improvement—introducing transformative solutions in aircraft design, propulsion, advanced materials, digital systems, autonomy, manufacturing, or space-enabled aviation applications. Entry is by a 5-page A4 PDF submission. Judges will be looking for a clear technical roadmap, strong validation evidence, and measurable impact potential, paying particular attention to the criteria listed below.

  • Background: Outline the nominated breakthrough technology,
  • Key Projects & Validation Milestones: Describe major development milestones achieved within the qualifying period
  • Innovation & Technical Distinction: Demonstrate the originality and depth of the breakthrough
  • Industry & Sustainability Impact: Provide evidence of the broader implications of the innovation, including: •            Contribution to net-zero or carbon-reduction strategies •            Enhanced safety, reliability, or resilience •            Economic competitiveness or export potential •            Cross-sector collaboration and ecosystem development
  • Outcomes & Future Scalability: Summarise measurable outcomes and forward trajectory
